Outside Decor

Although I didn't find pumpkins at the craft sale, I did find some on Sunday, when we took a drive a little farther north to check out the fall colors.  I was looking around on Pinterest and found this idea:

Simply purchase some 'puffy paint' and paint little dots down the lines of the pumpkin.  The ones on Pinterest had little curly-Q's at the end of some of the lines.  I wasn't that steady to get into that much detail.  I did do a little fancier decorating on the second pumpkin, using sparkle silver colored paint.

Then the rains came!!  It has been raining all week, until today, we had a little break from the dreariness.  The sun peaked through for about three hours this afternoon.  I am so glad because I wanted to get my fall decorations put up this week.

Yesterday, we had to go into town for a few things, and the department store had mums on sale.  I sure they wanted to get rid of them before the hard freeze.  I picked up a plant and a few little pumpkins to put around it.

I enjoyed my time in the sun decorating my entrance way.
I just heard on the evening news that there is more rain on the way with intermittent snow showers.  Whew, got fall up in the nick of time.

And that's the way it is...............................

  5. Genius idea for the pumpkins; yours are lovely and look "example" worthy to me, curly-ques or not! :-) I haven't had the "umph" to decorate for fall since the kiddo's have moved, but see your handiwork made me a tad inspired!

  13. Love that idea with the pumpkins! We did some yard work this weekend so now I'm ready to get my bales of hay and put up the scarecrows! Aldi had some pretty good sized pumpkins for $2.99 so that's where I'm headed this week!

  15. Ouch - snow showers already ! We're finally getting some rain here, although it's way too late for the crops. However, it'll help put some moisture back and perhaps help the water table. We've had Jack Frost come and visit, although not too hard yet.

    Great fall colors and decorations.

  16. I love the pumpkins. Would have never dreamed of using puff paint. This way they would last longer than cutting them.
    Thanks for the idea.
