ATVing

This weekend we traveled a little farther north to Hurley, Wisconsin; for an ATVing weekend.  We had a couple of residents lead us.  The first day we found Lake Superior!!

One of the guys built a "Safe Travels" symbol on the shoreline:
On the way back to Saxton Harbor a group of folks were gathered around a recently shot bear.  The say he was a small one!

I will spare you the picture of the "Gal" gutting the thing out.  If you really want to see it, leave a comment, and I will e-mail you the photo!!

Day two, we visited a few water falls.

In a few weeks the trails should be just beautiful, as the leaves are starting to turn color!

And that's the way it is.........................................

  1. I am commenting on the beauty of your countryside and the pleasures of your ride through it, but I do not want to see any bear pictures as described!

  3. So happy for you getting to take that ride. So how many miles did you put on? We rode up to Saxon Harbor a few times, back in the days when we used to trail ride, and it was so much fun. We went one time in the early spring when there were still patches of snow and ice. I enjoy seeing the shorelines of the lake anytime of the year. I'm still hoping to get up there one more time this year before the snow flies.

  7. Poor teddy.

The scenery is wonderful, living so near the ocean all of my life I really never knew that the Great Lakes had waves, or sand, now I know.

  8. I really enjoy seeing your pictures because it is a part of the country that I haven't visited yet. I was also surprised by the waves.

  11. You were up in our neck of the woods. Parts of the Tuscobia trail are near us as well as all the trails you traveled.
Isn't Lake Superior superior? The water was a bit more turbulent as there are so many more sandstones on shore. It's amazing how the rush of the water changes by the minute and also changes the rocks...we were there less than a month ago and the rocks were tiny, so we searched for agates. We also visited Saxon Harbor, the GrandLoves really loved all of the big fishing boats and sail boats in the harbor. Ya, sure, send me a picture....how big was that bear, one over 500 lbs. was just harvested by us.
