My challenge: Well my granddaughter has An American Girl Doll, and the other two are getting My Generation Dolls for Christmas. Could I make matching dresses for the dolls.
Off to the fabric store I went. I found some similar fabric. Here comes the tricky part, I made my own pattern.
All was going along just fine, until I tried to make the sleeve fit. My creation was all wrong, back to the drawing board.
After some fine tuning, the sleeve fit well.
I am sure my granddaughters will love getting doll dresses that match their own. (and I can't wait to give them their doll dresses)And that's the way it is....................
That is so cute! What a talent - making your own pattern. I am sure the girls will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteCute...cute...cute...!!
ReplyDeleteHi: occasional lurker here, never comment, but those dresses are WONDERFUL! I have made clothes for my little grand's doll and they can be a pain. I watched a PBS show, Sewing with Nancy, and their hint for doll clothes is to sew all the pieces (especially the sleeves and facings) together first and then do the side seams. Finish with a half back seam and velcro or snaps. Your girls will love their matching doll dresses.

That is just so great! My mom used to make dresses for me and my dolls (Madame Alexander at that time) making her own patterns for the dolls' clothing. I remember it as being so very special

I bet those girls are gonna love you for making their dolls matching dresses! You're such a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteLook at you sew, what lucky grand daughters you have! Sorry about the bus incident, hope she isn't scared for life :(
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet memories of the days I sewed matching dresses for my daughter and her doll, until she got into horses. Then it was saddle blankets for the real horses. The dresses are darlings.
