Swamp Cedar

I promised myself I'd blog on a more regular basis, and as I look at the date of my last blog, a month has passed.  I just don't know where the time goes!!

Many years ago, one of the old timers whom we bought our property from, called the Tamarack 'Swamp Cedar," and that term stuck with me.
The Tamarack are evergreen type trees, whose needles turn golden and fall off.

Yesterday was a perfect day to take the steady steed to the dam and capture the beauty of the 'Swamp Cedar.'  And I am sure glad I did, because today is rainy and damp.

A few more days of rain and some wind and their beauty will also disappear in anticipation of old man winter.

This is probably my last trip of the season to the dam.  It is so peaceful there, no matter what season it is.

I love the sound of the water rushing over the wall of the dam.

It is evident that  winter is close at hand.

And that's the way it is............................

Your photos really capture the mood of impending winter. I can clearly see why some of embrace this time of year and some of us get ready to fly the coop.

  5. Your photos of late fall are beautiful. We're not there yet -- many of our trees are still green, and others are only partially colored. I'm hoping for a mild winter, unlike last year when it was so miserable!
