Last night we decided to try our luck at fishing. We went out about 5:30 and it was slow at first.
Along with the other fishermen on the lake, we moved around quite a bit. As the sun, set either we found the perfect spot or it was the right time of day because we started to get bites.
Sorry I am a fair fisher-woman, if I get a chance for a good photo, I drop my rod and reel and grab the camera. I missed a few, such as the three eagles soaring over head, and a seagull that swooped down right in front of us to pick up one of our rejects!!
This was our laugh of the day!!
Its the smallest perch I have ever seen. I posted the picture on Facebook, and a friend commented that, I shouldn't fish in the fishbowl on the counter!!!
As the sun started to set, they really started biting; which allowed us to catch ourselves today's dinner.
It was a beautiful quiet evening, hearing the occasional call of the loons made it perfect.
The sun set was pretty but not spectacular. All in all, what wonderful way to end our day!!
And that's the way it is.................
that is a nice mess of fish. that is what my daddy would have said. to funny on fishing in the bowl.. cute little guy

I don't even like to fish but I would come fishing with you--sunsets, loons calling, my kind of fishing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love fresh fish, but no one I know goes fishing anymore! Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at your friends comment, fishing in the fish bowl! I call that bait for the bigger fish, and have caught a few like that myself. Looks like you had beautiful fishing weather and a nice catch in the live well. I hope you enjoy your catch for dinner. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures and glad you caught your dinner! lol
ReplyDeletethe loons and that sunset is reward enough for me. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely way to end the day.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad used to say that anything larger than a fork full, was a keeper.
ReplyDeleteNice meal you caught, and a bright sunset for keeps too.
Life is Good
Fishing from the fish bowl LOL... how relaxing to be out on that lake...(sigh)
ReplyDeleteMy one brother was a avid fisherman he taught me all I know. Starting how to get the bait worms at night . Tied with a can around my ankles. Go out at midnight with him when the dew was out or after a rain or if it is a dry night. You take powdered mustard made with water. Then put in the worms holes. Boy they come up quick. At twelve years old I made fast cash. All the Americans at the camps, cottages would buy my worms. Thank God for American fisherman.Love them. I also cleaned there cottages while they went fishing. They paid me big dollars back then. Like 20 dollars a day three times a weeK. My girlfriend and I. Plus all pop in frig we coule have and cookies. Ha,ha. Then I was like a rake or a thin pencil. I wore off my calories. I was a go getter back then.
ReplyDeleteSo I used to fish with hours with my belated brother. I started when I was 7 on my dock fishing. Then it went from there. My dad named his boat the Carol Ann. After me. I should find those pictures and posted them for conversation sake. I do not fish now as I cannot get out of a boat or in with my sciatic leg and hip. So good for you with getting in and out of the boat and I like the idea of your picture takes on board you have here. Dont drop your camera. We have a Mayor in Toronto Hazel McCallion. She is 90 young and she caught a huge fish and it was on the news. Oh was she a strong willed women. She wanted to real it in herself.Funny how she has her face expressions all into it. You should see the fish. Massivie size. So if you have your health. Fishing is fun. When I went with my brother he would sit by hours and fish like 6 hours.I know in heat they dont catch well. After a rain they did. Early morning was great. If there is boats buzzing around or water sports. Hardly get a bite. Fish love to be in the lily pad areas and close to shore the big ones . We have Muskies in one like here. Another lake fresh water fish pickerel .Black bass, green bass. Sunfish they are always around and perch but they are real fighters on the line. You thik you have a huge fish. Well you found out when you bring them up. Your pole will bend. I have cleaned them. Scaled them the fish or just knifed the sides and out. I loved to fish. I so env you.
It is pretty out on your lake. I would much rather take photos than fish...didn't even buy a fishing license this year. This time of year the water is too warm and the fish are mostly wormy anyway. Neither of us much like to clean fish either after having the resort for so many years:)
ReplyDeleteThat last image is just gorgeous!! Talk about a golden moment, breathtaking!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I would love to see/hear the loons. Hope you have a nice week.
