We have had this little shed for more than 35 years. It was built by my father-in-law to be used as a storage shed for garden tools, lawn chairs and other miscellaneous stuff. As time went on we build a garage and really didn't have much use for the shed.
We moved it to the back of the lot for the grandchildren to use as their Club House. Well the Club house's floor was getting spongy, and needed to be replaced.
Our son and his family were here this weekend, and it was a wonderful opportunity to get at that sinking floor.
The grands emptied out the shed, putting all the small stuff in storage bins.
Out came the furniture:
The first thing to come out was the cupboard my dad made for me when I was a little girl.
Next came the table and chair set he made for our kids.
Then the doll house he and mom gave our daughter one year for Christmas.
Lastly the cradle, also given to my daughter one Christmas.
When everything was out, the guys got busy replacing the floor.
Everything was wiped down, the club house was swept out, rafters cleaned and the furniture put back inside.
Now the "Club House" is ready for many, many hours of playing when the grands are here for a visit.
And that's the way it is.............
This is adorable and what special treasures you have inside for the children to play with. I always wanted one of these when I was little!

ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful! How fun for the grandkids. I always had a club house when I was a kid. First it was a corner in our basement, then it was an old corn crib, then it was my neighbor's little quonset hut that had once been a chicken coop. (We had cleaned it up) Kids need a clubhouse! :-) I love the furniture that had been made for you. What a treasure.
ReplyDeleteLove it that you are keeping the memories going and passed down from one generation to another.
ReplyDeletePerfect!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids had a little house like that, too! Over the years, though, the squirrels overran it, and we had to tear it down. I'm sure your little grands will enjoy it for a long time.
