These two guys are doing our remodeling.
Their names are Kim and Rod. Here in the northwoods, they are referred to by many names. Some call them 'The Brothers' others refer to them as 'the Bopsie Twins', 'Mutt & Jeff,' or as I refer to them as 'Daryl and Daryl'. Whatever the reference everyone know who you're talking about!!
They aren't much for showers or hair cuts, not big into dental work either. They smoke a lot, and knock off work at 2:00 pm; because that's when happy hour starts!!
Nor are they much to look at, but they are good builders. They show up everyday at 7:30 am, and work non stop till 'happy hour'.
My dad was a builder and the quality of their work would meet with his approval. They are pleasant, and both guys have a fantastic sense of humor.
They're way of working is a little unconventional, but hey, who am I to judge.
I almost flipped when they started crown moldings, new doors and trim in the smallest of the bed rooms. The first thing they did was set up their saw in the front yard and took the screen off the bedroom they were working on. One brother measured what was needed and the other brother did the cutting, and passed the pieces to be put up right through the window.
Oh my, if we were still in town, I would have died. I'm used to builders bring materials in through the doorways. But hey, we're here in the northwoods where life is a little more relaxed!! And that's the beauty of these two guys. They don't get too excited about much!!
When the carpet for the bedrooms was installed; again the whole roll of carpet was passed through the window of the particular bedroom they were working on.
We are making progress, I'm getting anxious for them to be finished. Only a few more days....or so they say......
And that's the way it is..............
reliable, good quality work, good guys. that's a great contractor team, no matter what they do in off hours. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found someone who does quality work.
ReplyDeleteNot big into shaving either, I'd say. If they do good work, I guess that's all that matters in the long run.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they get the job done a done right who cares I say ! Looking forward to seeing the end result !Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the two builders; my husband owned a construction company for over 50 years, and the workers would come and go, and some looked just that way. But being able to do the work is the most important thing.
ReplyDeleteIf they do good work that is all that counts in my book. They look like fun characters:)
ReplyDeleteLook like two hoots. I had to look up daryl and daryl and watched the clip on You Tube.
ReplyDeleteWhat they do just sounds like plain ole good sense to me ... no inside corners to turn, nothing on counters or tables to knock off, And the straightest way between two points is a straight line.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see Daryl and Daryl in those two. The window thing sounds like genius to me. You know with their work ethic and firmly set priorities for having fun, they should live a long time--providing the alcohol and cigarettes don't get them. I had a painter and siding pair like that with maybe better hygiene. It seemed every time I left and came back, they were sitting outside on cigarette break. However they finished ahead of schedule and did fine work.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the picture, my thought was, "They would be right at home in Vermont." That is the home of Daryl and Daryl after all. Through the window--efficient.
ReplyDeleteif i could have some remodeling done i would be happy no matter if they used windows or doors.. it is great to find people who do what they say they will these days.
ReplyDeleteThey seem like the kind of guys that will definitely finish on deadline. In that case pass it through the window buddy...I love your work.
ReplyDeleteJen
oh they sound awesome, i LOVE that they do everything!!
ReplyDeleteand the window passing sounds great, less in and out and lot's of time saved!! they sound like an amazing team!!
I like these guys already. I am sure you will be pleased with there work.:)
ReplyDeletetheir...work
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the introduction to Daryl and Daryl.what counts is the quality of the work ! sounds fine to me :=)... Happy 4th to you in the northwoods!
ReplyDeleteI know guys that look like they do...most of the time they are good ole boys. Hard workers but I know you are ready for the work to be done
ReplyDeleteI actually think that's a great way of doing it!! So efficient!!
