Palm Springs, CA

After a four hour bus ride our group arrived in Palm Springs.  Departing the bus and walking a block and a half, Marilyn was there to greet us:

Not the traditional shot of this statue!!!

We arrived at "The Fabulous Follies"   The Follies is a variety show made up of show tunes and popular hits from the 40's, 50's and 60's.   All the singers and dancers were sixty-three years or older.  The performers had been entertainers all their lives.  Some had roles in Broadway productions, some were dancers in Vegas, while others performed in the movies or television.

Unfortunately, photos were not allowed during the performance.  During Scene II, each performer appearing in the most fantastic costumes, were ushered down the stairs to the microphone, where they told us their stories.

It was amazing to see these show gals still dancing in high heels. (I won't even try to walk in them!!!)

These shoes were in a showcase from last years performance
Act Two, Scene Two..........  Sixty seven year old, Lesley Gore, entertained us with "It's My Party"  recorded when she was sixteen, back on March 30, 1963.  Fifty years!!!  She belted out that number one hit, like she was a teenager.  I felt like I was fifteen again, if only for a little while. In my mind I WAS fifteen!!  That feeling of timelessness disappeared  quickly, as I tried to get out of my seat, along with the rest of the audience to give her a standing ovation!!!

The Follies concluded with a "God Bless America" theme,  paying tribute to all branches of military;  and invited all those who served to stand and be recognized.   The audience joined in singing "The Star Spangled Banner" before the curtains were lowered.

What a wonderful show, and if you are ever near Palm Springs, don't miss the opportunity to see the Follies!!!

Lots of plastic and putty to keep these 'babes' looking good!!!

And that's the way it is........................................
