A while ago The Retirement Chronicles http://myretirementchronicles.blogspot.com/ had a photo contest; with the title of the photo being 'Mailboxes" I didn't have time to enter the contest, but I did give it some thought.
"What could I photograph, that would be a unique photo". I did find something unique and that is particular to Wisconsin.
There has to be millions of this style mailbox along Wisconsin's rural roads!
Simply take an old milk can, fill it with cement, stick a pole in the cement, add the mailbox, and you have a piece of our Wisconsin Heritage.
Post Note: I saw these two within 3/4 of a mile from our cottage.
And that's the way it is................................
How interesting! I love your pictures.
ReplyDeleteMailboxes can be an art as your photos show.
ReplyDeleteI also live in the country and I enjoy seeing the wonderful ways that people come up with to display their mailboxes. These photos are great! Love those old milk cans :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check to see if there are any like that around here. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea for a photo contest, although our personal mailbox is pretty bland. I will check out that site.
ReplyDeleteSince I live here in WI I see these all the time. The other one you see a lot of is the Big Mouth Bass fish mailbox.
ReplyDeletehaha....i give thought to lots of things!!
ReplyDeleteand "cottage" sounds so special!!
I like them, do they tip over easy? Round here they would love to have the milk container, antiques and all that.

Very cool!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, what does your mail box look like? -grin-
Don't you love these new/different ideas, which people think up, for PHOTO OPS!?! Mail boxes. I'd never think of that.
"Auntie sezzzzzz..." :-)
I always enjoy other peoples creative ideas for mailboxes. My favorite here is a John Deere tractor mailbox. When you live in a rural area, having a unique mailbox helps folks find your place. I used to paint mine colors like hot pink or pumpkin for that very reason.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea! We have a milk container on our front porch, but the mail goes in the door slot.
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
I like to see original mail boxes like these. There is one around where I live that is made up of different license plates from around the country.
ReplyDeleteThere used to be unique mailboxes in this area, but they all have to meet certain specifications now. It was a pleasure to see these.
