"Little Free Library"

Since this spring, I have been reading a few of your blogs telling about little free libraries that are springing up in front yards all over the country.    I thought it was a wonderful idea, and would love to do something like it, if we had any street activity.  Living on a dead end street, there's not much traffic.

The other day I had a doctor's appointment in Rhinelander, WI.  On my way to that appointment I saw someone had a "Little Free Library" in their front yard.  The theory is take a book, return a book .

In fact not only did they have one "Little Free Library" but two of them!!

The higher one is for adults, with a selection of adult books.

And the lower one is for children.

I've notice the children's library is kind of sparse.  Before I go to my next doctor appointment, I am going to go through the books my grands have outgrown and contribute them to the library.

And that's the way it is..............

  2. i haven't seen any of these here. we did have one at work, we could bring in our books and leave them, and borrow other books and bring them back. it worked well, there was a high rate of turnover... this is a good idea.

  4. There have been similar things at almost all of the refuges I've been at. They're only for the volunteers, though. I've never seen one in any of the towns I've been through. It's a good idea.

  6. I think they are a delightful idea. My brother is an RV'er and he says most RV parks have those. It keeps him in books and also prevents them from stacking up in their tight living quarters. A wonderful recycle.

  11. I was just talking with my SiL who lives in Seattle, and she says that this idea has caught on there, but I haven't yet seen one in my neighborhood in Tacoma. In time, perhaps it will. Next Summer maybe. I have lots of hopes for next Summer.

  13. Interesting idea I've enjoyed visiting your blog. I especially found the old fashioned hair curlers interesting. My mom used to curl my hair on those when I was a kid. Thank you for your encouraging comments on my blog. Have a nice day.

Loved your bird house post - aren't kids creative ! (too bad schools tend to drill that out of them)
