Saturday, was the day to get cut out cookies baked and frosted.
My niece did the rolling and cutting out. I have very little counter space, so we utilized the top of the portable dishwasher to complete this process.
The baking was my job.
And it was a challenge getting the cookies from the oven to the table without burning any of the moving targets; who were waiting for more cookies to frost and decorate.
As soon as the cookies cooled they got to work using their artistic talents. They painstakingly made each cookie a masterpiece.
The grands, along with our nieces sat around the table telling stories, and begged to eat every cookie they frosted!!!
They all worked so hard, helping me with some of my Christmas preparations.
All this activity in the kitchen didn't bother grandpa one bit. He just snoozed the afternoon away. Even when the grands put cookies on his chest he never stirred. Baking cookies must be hard work!!!!!
And that's the way it is................
Aw, what a great time. The stuff of so many good memories.
ReplyDeleteso much fun.. and I love the sleeping papa... glad you had such a wonderful day making cookies.

What great little elves you had!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look YUMMY!
You have sooo much help in the kitchen with all your girls...Each one of them look so busy! And, the mister is really sleeping...reminds me of my mister...fast asleep! Haha!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful helpers! It has been a long time since I made sugar cookies and decorated them:)
ReplyDeleteYou start early! I did start stocking up on baking items when I did grocery shopping this morning. The problem with having the goodies around is that I eat them. I need to wait until closer to Christmas, or I'll have to do the baking twice and it will be harder for me the second time because I'd be dragging around excess weight!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love that last photo!
ReplyDeletehaha, omg....my hubs helps the same exact way!!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I loved baking with the kids when they were little. Now they don't want a thing to do with it! Boys! of course, being married may have something to do with it.

Your little cookie bakers, decorators, are adorable all full of frosting and flour. LOL
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh cuz I use my portable dish washer top for a counter top too. It works great for rolling cookie dough and pie crust., it even serves as a bar sometimes.
Blessya
Looks like a fun, fun afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWow! You had such cute helpers! I haven't started my Christmas baking yet, but I plan to begin tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteI miss baking cookies and making candy with my grands....it is a part of Christmas that brings smiles and memories. It looks like everyone is having fun...even grandpa :) In answer to the wreath in the photo on my blog being upside down...I took the photo in the summer. It had been discarded and left to dry up and fade away leaning next to an old antique shop. Merry Christmas...I just love being able to say that now :)
