There are a lot of snowbirds from the midwest. Last year they decided to bring their 'catch of the day' and share with all the residents of the condo.
First the fish were thawed out, then dried, dipped in egg, and dipped in cracker meal, bread crumbs, instant potato buds.
The next step is to fry them in hot oil. Some use fryers, while others use frying pans on the stove.
Five different folks provided the fish, while others brought a dish to pass, in the end 83 people were served.
There is a couple here from Vancouver, WA. They shared their clams with the group. Telling us how and what tools they use to dig clams at low tide. We learned how they recover the meat. She breads them and frys them like a fish filet.
All in all, it was a lot of work preparing and frying the fish. Their reward was the compliments from the diners.
And that's the way it is..................
Yum, that fish looks mighty tasty! What a nice gathering and lots of food...Looks like everyone is enjoying themselves! Thanks for the share. Hugs

ReplyDeleteI'm confused by "snow birds from the mid-west, being in Wisconsin."
ReplyDeleteI think of "snow birds" being people from upper NE (where it's usually cold in the winter) going down to FL in the winter, to escape the cold at home. Then going back up to the NE, in summer.
How is Wisconsin, warm in winter, like FL?
Or did I just misunderstand you? I do that, a lot. -grin- I call myself *dense.* ,-)

It's funny to think of all those snow birds lugging their frozen fish to the south for the winter. When I go south I only think about which sandals to pack!
